Stepping stones and shrubs in a Japanese garden after rain

Weeding / Saku, Nagano, Japan / After the rainy season

Weeding and pathway recovery around stepping stones

The path was cleared with hand work and mowing, with weed-control sheet only where needed and seasonal plants left in selected margins.

Client request

Weeds had hidden the path and made walking difficult for an older family member. The client wanted lower maintenance without heavy herbicide use.

Craft note

Covering everything would erase the garden's character, so the work separated walking lines from planted margins.
