A karesansui garden with moss, white gravel, and pruned pine trees

Pruning / Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan / Early summer

Natural-form pruning for an overgrown evergreen garden

The team restored light and airflow through selective pruning, keeping privacy from the street while reducing the heavy shade inside the home.

Client request

Branches were crossing the property line and the house had become darker. The client wanted a maintainable shape without harsh cutting.

Craft note

Rather than shrinking the tree aggressively, the pruning kept healthy branch exits and reduced only the visual and physical weight.
